Rethinking Learning systems: The Rise of Suites and Specialists

Following extensive ongoing research, Fosway changed the classification used in the 9-Grid™️ for Learning Systems. As more new suppliers disrupted this market, traditional terms such as LMS, NGLE and LXP either didn’t define the types of solutions or help tell them apart. So, we reclassified them into Learning System Suites and Specialists and have since dived into researching the disruptive specialisms in one of the biggest projects we have ever done.

What’s the difference?

This introductory paper identifies disruptive specialisms and argues for classifying the market into Learning System Suites and Learning System Specialists.

Read the paper to learn about the modern learning experience and a simpler architecture based around a next generation LMS, while also debunking the fallacy of the LMS/LXP divide. Discover what you are really trying to change or disrupt in the learning landscape. The paper also deconstructs the concept of ‘experience’ and explores other specialisms, providing a comprehensive understanding of not just your next gen LMS or learning management suite but more widely – next generation learning.

Disruptive learning – the Fosway Insights series

With all that input data, it has taken some time for the analysis to reach its conclusion, so expect to see a series of research outputs from us over the next couple of months. Firstly, we’ve embedded all of the specialisms research into our 2021 9-Grid™ analysis for Learning Systems, realigning and extending the underlying functional model and re-rating all of the solutions against that. The following chart shows the main functional areas under the 2021 functional model.
