How to retain and engage talent through employee development
Fosway’s latest HR Realities research shows that people development is a priority for HR teams. When asked “Which people/HR initiatives do you think are most important for your organisation to future proof itself as we approach 2025?”, the top two responses were linked to learning – lifelong learning and resilience, and unleashing the talents and potential of all individuals.
To put this into perspective, that’s ahead of empowering organisational agility, wellbeing and marginally ahead of flexible working, which has become an entry level requirement for a modern employee experience.
So, why has people development worked its way up the priority list, especially when the economic headwinds point to a recession in 2023?
Our research and conversations with leading corporates paint a clear picture: people development is a priority because of talent and skills shortages, and the combined need to develop an irresistible employee value proposition which manages to retain and attract (in that order) talent. People development also helps empower employees to develop skills for their own evolving roles and for the new work and projects that will take organisations into the future.
